The family members gathered around the kitchen table to discuss Angie’s vision, and the cats jumped up to the top of the fridge to listen. Full of nervous energy, Angie couldn’t sit still and was standing at the kitchen island baking some traditional scones while still taking part in the conversation.

“Visions don’t necessarily predict the future,” Rufus said after initially being upset about what Angie had seen. “The images warn of danger, but we can fight it.”

“Could you see where we were in the vision?” Courtney asked her sister. “Were there any clues about the space we were in?”

Angie stopped mixing the batter and looked off across the room trying to remember. “I’m not sure. It was so dark and everything was shrouded in a heavy fog.”

“Could you tell what we were wearing?” Courtney questioned.

With her eyes wide, Angie looked at her youngest sister. “Yes, I did see what you had on. You were wearing black slacks and your pink dressy shirt with the ruffle down the front.” She turned to Rufus. “You had on dark slacks and a pale blue buttoned-down shirt.”

Rufus asked, “So if we never wear those items, does that mean bad things won’t happen to us?”

Mr. Finch looked doubtful. “I don’t think wearing other pieces of clothing will make a difference.”

Ellie looked around the room. “Where’s Jenna?”

Angie sighed. “She wanted a few minutes to think. She went to her studio.”

“Should I check on her?” Ellie wore a worried expression.

“No, she’ll be okay.” Angie cut rounds from the batter and placed them on the baking sheet before slipping it into the oven. “She’ll join us in a few minutes.”

Courtney glanced about looking anxious. "I just can't believe someone wants to hurt Rufus and me. Who would do such an awful thing?"

Rufus wrapped an arm around her, giving her a reassuring squeeze. “We’ll be okay.”

Ellie shook her head in disgust at the mess of it all. "Angie's vision was crystal clear. Someone means you and Rufus harm, but I believe you’ll get through this in one piece and the stalker will be caught."

Rufus' mouth set in a firm line. "Well, they'll have to go through me first if they want to get anywhere near Courtney."

Mr. Finch nodded approvingly. "We'll all be keeping a close eye out and will be ready for whatever comes."

"I hate to say this, but do you think we should consider postponing the wedding?" Courtney asked her fiancé in a small voice. “I don’t want anything to happen to you.”

Rufus took Courtney's hands, gazing into her eyes. "This is just a bump in the road." He smiled encouragingly. "Nothing and no one will stop us from being together.”

"Chief Martin and his team will keep us safe," Mr. Finch said gently.

Angie came over to the table, wiping her hands on a dish towel. "Mr. Finch is right. We can take precautions and security will be tight, and if you two are sure you want to go forward, we’ll go ahead with the wedding as planned."

Courtney managed a small smile and took a deep, steadying breath.
